Illinois Farm Girl

a mother's perspective on farm life & farm kids

Christmas in The Country Gift Exchange

January 5, 2016

The past couple years I’ve seen posts circulating about a secret Santa style gift exchange among farm bloggers.  Remembering the fun and mystery of playing Secret Santa in past lives, I finally signed up this year.  Happy to report, the youthful excitement that accompanies an unexpected package still exists.

My gift came from Julie at Farming Grace Daily. A Kansas farmer, wife, mother and grandmother, she sent two handmade gifts that fit perfectly into my home and heart.

That’s Julie’s business card hanging from this photo clip. My daughter has already claimed this pretty board for herself and has a things to do list clipped to it.  I hope to place it on the piano to display a family picture.

Then this . . . an embroidered white dish towel.  Unbeknownst to Julie, my Grandma June made these by the dozen.  I have several tucked away in my drawer – too much sentiment attached to use them.  This gift caused my heart to smile.

Every experience, even one as simple as this Christmas in the Country exchange, has a lesson.  To give is most certainly better than the get any day!

I put together a gift box for Taysha who writes at Dirt Road Charm. You can find her gift reveal post on her blog.  And follow along with the others who participated and coordinated by checking out everyone’s posts here.

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! to the gals who found the time during busy holiday schedules to put this together.

I’m so glad you joined in the fun this year! I love that board, and the tea towel sounds like a perfect gift for you. I love it when it seems to work out so perfectly, much more perfectly than we could have ever planned, but it makes me so happy! Thanks for linking up!

What a beautiful picture frame and tea towel! I too am a recipient of a tea towel from Julie and it could not of brought a bigger smile to my face when I received it. Thank you Katie for joining us this year! We enjoyed having you as a participant!

I received a hand embroidered towel last year from Robbyn and I loved it. Everytime I use it I think of CITC!

This was my first year participating too, and it was so fun—the giving as much as the receiving! There is something exciting about being a secret Santa and trying to find/make the perfect gift for someone else!

What a lovely handmade gift! After reading about and seeing everyone’s gifts, I’ve been inspired to quit my job and just do crafts all day 😉

That would be great, would it not?! Craft all day and share with amazing women! Sounds like a plan.
