Illinois Farm Girl

a mother's perspective on farm life & farm kids

What’s in a Jacket?

June 12, 2013

FFA was destined to be a part of my life.  Not just because I was a farmer’s daughter and considered my cows my best friends or because I’d rather bale hay than lay by the pool.  No, FFA was in the cards because it’s what students did at my small high school.  At one time, out of 140 students in grades 9 to 12, 126 of them were FFA members. Destiny. ...

Life Lesson #1: It is okay to be ignorant; it is not okay to stay that way. ...

Purse Collection

April 29, 2013

Our very fairy farm princess is obsessed with purses, handbags, suitcases, anything in which “stuff” can be packed. At the tender age of two, we hung a cute row of flower shaped pegs on her wall in order to organize what was at the time just a few purses. However, the collection has grown.  Primarily because Grandma, Nana, Aunt Stacey, Aunt Emily, Aunt Angie . . . well, really every female in ...
