Brian King (pictured center) is a recent graduate and charter member of the East Burke FFA Chapter. And in the charter year, he placed first in the regional prepared public speaking career development event and participated at the state level. That says something – about Brian and his advisor. Building a program takes time, but with great support from the community, parents and school, students can reap the rewards of FFA immediately.
What FFA activities did you participate in and which was your favorite?
I was present at the signing of our chapter’s charter, and participated in the prepared public speaking career development event, livestock evaluation CDE, community fundraisers, regional leadership conference, attended national convention, and more. My favorite was when we hosted our local U.S Congressman and he spoke to us about the future of Agriculture and how he helps keep the topic of ag alive in Congress.
Why did you join?
I joined because of my love and passion for agriculture.
Why do you stay?
The friendships I made kept me going and motivated throughout the year.
